The Army Legal Administrator

Heritage & Evolution

The Legal Administrator grew from the specialized clerks and court reporters of the post-1950 Army into today's deployable resource managers. Three milestones mark that evolution.

After 1950

The Specialized Clerk

1985

Catalyst
Law office automation and increasingly complex federal fiscal law.

Independent managers of the legal office as an enterprise.
Training
Entry standards shifted toward the Federal Acquisition Regulation, fiscal law, unit manning documents and early database systems.

1993–Present

MOS 270A: The Modern Standard

Catalyst
Alignment with broader Army branch identifiers.

Enterprise IT and cloud systems, multi-million-dollar operational funds, multi-component personnel readiness and deployments to contested theaters.
